The medieval village dominated by the Fortress
Situated on one of the highest hills in the Ancona hinterland, this village preserves the appearance of an authentic fortified citadel. The imposing Fortress represents one of the most significant examples of military architecture in the region, built between 1454 and 1456 to defend the borders of Ancona. Walking along the perimeter of the fortification allows you to admire up close the square-plan structure and the central keep, defensive elements that have remained almost intact over the centuries.
Every corner of the historic center reflects the town's solid medieval identity. The paved streets and ancient entrance gates lead visitors toward silent squares, where famous annual historical reenactments are held featuring challenges between districts and period banquets.
